The official first episode (after the supersized ‘pilot’ that featured four authors) features Emma Copley Eisenberg. Her debut book is called The Third Rainbow Girl: The Long Life of a Double Murder in Appalachia.
The title may scream true crime; however, the true crime aspect is only a sliver of the book’s body. The rest is an anthropological and cultural study and criticism of violence in rural America.
Eisenberg chatted with the podcast about how writing this true crime book, that’s also a memoir and cultural analysis, came to be. She also discussed her work with Blue Stoop and what books she has loved recently.
